Instructions
Ingredients:
1 ounce dark rum
1 ounce coconut rum
1/2 ounce banana liqueur
3/4 ounce freshly squeezed orange juice
3/4 ounce pineapple juice
1/4 ounce grenadine
Ice cubes
Optional: cherry and orange slice for garnish
Instructions:
Combine Ingredients:
In a cocktail shaker, add the dark rum, coconut rum, banana liqueur, orange juice, pineapple juice, and grenadine.
Add Ice and Shake:
Fill the shaker with ice cubes. Seal and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until well-chilled.
Strain:
Strain the mixture into a hurricane glass or tall glass filled with fresh ice.
Garnish:
Garnish with a maraschino cherry and an orange slice for a tropical presentation.
Notes:
Juice Freshness: Freshly squeezed orange juice gives a brighter, more vibrant flavor compared to bottled versions. Canned pineapple juice works well, but fresh juice will elevate the cocktail even more.
Grenadine Layering Tip: For a visually layered effect, add the grenadine last by slowly pouring it down the inside of the glass after the rest of the drink is poured—it will settle at the bottom for that signature sunrise look.
The Bahama Mama is a Caribbean classic that blends tropical fruit flavors with the smooth richness of rum. Originally created as a beachside sipper, this cocktail has evolved over time, often incorporating coconut and banana elements to evoke island vibes. It’s fruity, refreshing, and perfect for lounging by the pool or dreaming of a vacation.
Try customizing with a splash of soda water for a lighter twist, or substitute spiced rum to add warming depth and complexity.
